Youth Fellowship

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Romans 12:2a

We think Youth Ministry is incredibly important, not only for our teens, but also for the church at large to get involved. This fun, yet real and Christ-centered ministry takes many different forms at Stony Point:

  • Sunday Evening Youth Fellowship (grades 7-12)
  • Youth Bible Studies & Classes (during Sunday School and throughout the week)
  • Teen Prayer Allies (adults are matched with a teen and commit to pray for them regularly)
  • Mars Hill (ministry aimed at helping teens develop a strong Christian world-view thru bi-monthly meetings and discussions of current issues.)

SPC YOUTH MINISTRIES

All SPC Youth Ministries are designed to foster faith in Jesus Christ through providing opportunities for worship, prayer, Bible study, fellowship, discipleship, accountability, prayer, giving, ministry, evangelism, & missions. Read on for descriptions are various SPC Youth Ministries, the Youth Fellowship Meeting Schedule, & the Youth Fellowship Special Events Calendar for 2007 & 2008. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way.

Michael Bryant

Coordinator of SPC Youth Ministries

Youth Bible Classes

SPC Youth Bible Classes are discipleship ministries designed to offer SPC teens (7th – 12th grades) an opportunity to read & study the Bible comprehensively at an introductory level. The goal is to catch the flow of redemptive history by reading & discussing the Scriptures, chapter by chapter. The Bible characters, stories, & concepts that many of the teens know from childhood are given their fullest meaning as they are studied in their proper contexts. Significant theological themes are taught as they are encountered. A Biblical world & life view is developed. Students are challenged to conform their lives to the Biblical truth & wisdom they are learning. Each Youth Bible Class is organized by grade level & taught by a teaching team that stays with its class for all 6 years. Youth Bible Classes usually get together outside of class for fun 3 or 4 times a year. Friends are always welcome.

Youth Fellowship

The SPC Youth Fellowship is a fellowship & discipleship ministry of SPC designed to provide opportunities for our teens to build significant Christ-centered friendships with one another & with some SPC adults. In weekly meetings, we informally worship & pray together. We often invite speakers to teach or share their testimonies. These talks help us to get to know the speakers as we listen & one another as we discuss what we’ve heard. These friendships shape our faiths & lives in important ways. The Youth Fellowship Worship Band gives our young musicians a place to use & develop their gifts. Snacks are almost always available in the Youth Room for free. Drinks are also available for a small fee. Special Events (retreats, service projects, & recreational activities) are planned once or twice a month to give students a chance to get to know one another in off-campus settings & to deepen their walk with Jesus. Friends are always welcome. A schedule of our meetings & special events calendar are posted below.

SPC Youth Bible Study Fellowships

Youth Bible Study Fellowships are discipleship ministries designed to train & challenge SPC teens to really live as becomes followers of Christ. These mid-week, single-sex meetings offer settings for more intimate relationships and greater accountability between teens & adult leaders.Friends are always welcome.

Mars Hill

Mars Hill is a discipleship ministry of SPC designed to develop & strengthen a distinctly Christian world-view. Jim Campbell-Robertson & Clay Asbury lead this ministry that meets in the homes of the students. High school Juniors, Seniors, & College kids are encouraged to participate. Their parents are welcome, too. Most Mars Hill Parties start at 6:30 with a meal & end around 9:30. Students & their parents should come prepared to think & be changed. Friends who want to learn more about the Christian faith & life are always welcome. The Mars Hill Party Schedule is posted below.

Wednesday Afternoon Basketball

Basketball is a fellowship ministry of SPC designed to keep Mr. B feeling sore & humble. The basketball is often of very low quality, but we always have a very good time. We meet in the Bon Air Elementary School Gym, so the weather is always good, too. Friends are very welcome.

Youth Library

The Youth Library is located in the hallway near the Youth Bulletin Board. Most books are available to encourage & strengthen faith is Christ. Some are just good books that offer a thought-provoking or entertaining read. The Youth Library is self-serve. When you borrow a book, please note the date, your name, & the book title in the Youth Library Logbook. When you return it, please put the book back where it belongs & log your date of return. We are always on the lookout for great books. Gifts & recommendations are appreciated.
