In our consumeristic culture where the temptation is constantly to be absorbed with simply our needs, we believe it’s important to be intentionally outward facing in showing the love of Christ to those around us in practical ways through these service opportunity groups.
If you are interested in getting involved in any of the opportunities listed below,
contact the church office at 272-8111.
:: The Food Pantry ::
A team of Stony Pointers stocks and staffs our food pantry on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The food pantry serves people in our zip code with basic food supplies and other items, and also hopes to build relationships with them offering them the real food of life – a relationship with Christ.
:: Loaves & Fishes ::
The Loaves and Fishes team regularly buys, prepares and serves meals to 150 or so homeless people in the inner city every Sunday. Together with a team from Franklin Street Community and 2 or 3 other churches we serve meals, present the Gospel and build relationships with the people who come to be fed – but we probably get more out of it than they do.
:: Grounds Crew::
Our volunteer Grounds Crew keeps Stony Point’s exterior looking beautiful and has a great deal of fun in the process. If you have green fingers or can just steer a riding lawnmower, we'd love for you to join our team.
:: Newsletter Team ::
Stony Point’s monthly newsletter ‘The POINT’ is overseen by an editorial team which is eager to have people join it who have a passion for the printed word and have a creative flair.
:: Nursery, Soundboard & More ::
There are a number of task groups which make Sunday mornings and other events run smoothly. These include areas such as teaching and caring for our children, operating the soundboard and PowerPoint, ushering, greeting and others. If you are interested in getting involved, contact the church office at 272-8111.
