John didn’t need a mother. He had already one: she was standing next to Mary. But, referring to Mary, Jesus tells John, “Behold your mother!” For those of you who’ve lost your parents, those whose folks are not yet believers, those whose mother or father for some reason can’t be safely involved in your life right now – for you, if that’s you – I wonder if God isn’t saying to you and to someone else in the church family, here’s a parent, here’s a child.
