SPC WEBSITE TECHNICAL HELP, TOOLS, & TOYS
Podcasts
Current and archived Podcasts of Stony Point Sermons are available by selecting “Sermon Archives” from the directory menu on the front page. You can download them manually, have them delivered straight to your desktop or music player (i.e. iTunes), or simply press play on the in-line player within individual sermon posts.
If you use an application to subscribe to our podcasts, it will periodically check our site to see if there are any new sermons to download.
Some favorite desktop apps include iTunes (Windows & Mac) and Juice (Windows, Mac & Linux). Also, if you have a portable music player (such as an iPod), you can carry these sermons with you for listening on the go.
If you’re interested in further details about podcasting, we recommend these references:
- Apple: iTunes: Podcasts
- Wikipedia: Podcasting
If you’ve already got iTunes installed, you can find us in their Podcast directory or simply click here to open iTunes and subscribe. If you’re using another application, though, you’ll want to use the regular Podcast link.
RSS Feeds
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is based on a technology known as XML. Among other things, RSS allows you to view headlines of the latest content posted on a website like Stonypointweb.com via “subscription” without having to go the site necessarily. The content can come to you, so to speak.
When you see the Feed
icon on a page, you know that that particular content has an associated RSS feed. With that feed you can view latest posts on another site or within an aggregator. You will need an RSS Reader (also known as a news aggregator) to properly interpret the RSS feeds on the channel. These readers also allow you to subscribe to the channel. The advantage of an RSS feed is you only view the most recent changes to our site. This alerts you to an important change or addition to a ministry page such as a new broadcast.
Mobile Phone/PDA Access
This site has been enhanced to format properly when viewed with PDA or mobile phone browsers. Large images may not be available, however.
