This whole story of Daniel and Darius’ law seems familiar. Let’s review: here’s a man in whom his accusers found no basis for any charge under the law against him. So they fabricate through an implied treachery to the state the penalty of death – only to watch as this honest man puts God and others before his own safety. He is taken without a word in his own defense to his execution and when at dawn his friends arrive at the tomb, they discover that this same man has been entirely vindicated by God through a great miracle and placed in authority over his accusers. He explains “My God sent his angels and he shut the mouth of lions because I was found innocent in His sight.”
