YOU CAN HELP
Stony Point Church encourages you to express your faith in Christ by contributing financially and with prayer to Canann Children’s home in Buziika, Uganda.
Each summer since 2000, SPC has visited Canaan and, among other things, evaluates conditions there. Canaan is held accountable for effective management and administration by UMAC. Please visit the Canann website at www.canaanchildrenshome.org to learn about how you can help Canaan’s leaders and staff love the 100 children God has put into their care.
Contact Stony Point Church to make contributions of money or medical supplies to our annual mission projects in support of Canaan Children’s Home.

Since the recent fire, just over $30,000 has been conbributed to help Canaan recover. The old girls’ dorm has been razed and plans for reconstruction are almost complete. Pastor Isaac plans to use some of the contributed money to increase security at Canaan by improving the wall around the property. Please pray that God will use these troubles and recovery as a witness to the community of His love and faithfulness.

RECENT FIRE AT CANAAN ~ 9.7.09
FROM PASTOR ISAAC:
Dear Friends and Supporters of Canaan Children’s Transit Center; yesterday afternoon 09/07/09 shortly after 3pm while the entire staff and children were attending the monthly assembly, a fire broke out in the junior girls’ dormitory. By the time the fire was discovered the building was completely in flames. There were no children present in the building and it was locked. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE CHILDREN.
All efforts were made to put out the fire using sand and water to extinguish the flames but the heat and intensity were too great. The fire brigade was called immediately and when they arrived the flames were put out but the building is now un-inhabitable. This affected both the junior girl’s and the senior girl’s dormitory. The roof partially collapsed on one end of the building and was torn open by the fire brigade to put out the flames on the other. The building will have to be rebuilt.
The immediate impact is that the junior girls and auntie Esther the house mom lost everything. Many craft materials were also lost. School started today and school uniforms and materials are needed and clothing for those girls. The senior girls lost some things in the haste to remove them from that end of the building before the fire spread and many books were lost due to water damage.
Please pray that God will provide for the needs of these children both physical and psychological. Many of the children were in tears for hours and will need much love and comfort to recover from this tragedy. Thank you for your past and present support of Canaan Children’s Transit Center. We will furnish further details as needed and the complete situation is accessed.
Please inform other friends and also stand with us in prayer.
God bless you.
