Revelation 2:18 – 29 • Series: Letters Through the Looking Glass • August 9, 2009
There’s nothing careless about this metaphor here, is there? Jezebel – who stole the heart of a King of Israel and led him to betray his people and deny his God. And whoever this woman was here – she had amassed a following within the church which was steering a large group – though they probably did not know it – away from Jesus. And this is how the teaching took root – how it made people feel – essentially they were saying – “I am so into this. I’ve never felt like this before. I love this!” The Thyatirans were addicted to their own pleasure – as we are.
