The first and the last, the greatest, most glorious being is going to associate with and spend his life rescuing the lowest and least worthy in the world’s eyes. Jesus said to His Father in John 17:24, “I want those you have given me to be with me where I am.” And where is that? It’s on this trajectory: taking up our crosses and following him downward.
