Hebrews 13:5-6 ~ April 19, 2009
“Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God’s wise and fatherly disposal in every condition. In contentment you worship God,declaring by your very disposition “God satisfies my every longing.” Contentment steels you against temptation. For if God fully satisfies, what hold can the enemy find in your heart? Contentment disposes you to receive greater blessing. And contentment stewards your strength and focuses your energies on Kingdom service. You have no need to waste effort on false pursuits.” Adapted from Jeremiah Burroughs
